// Enlglish below //

Cake is not an attack on democracy, the Progress Party Frp is!

We started grinning from ear to ear as we read today that someone threw a pie at the minister of Equality and right-wing Progress Party politician Solveig Horne, during the Pride Parade on Saturday.

This is the minister who has said regarding rape that "Girls are responsible for the situation they put themselves in" and tweeted: "Wonder if it's okay that kindergartens read gay adventure stories for young children?".

We thought it was absurd that Horne walks in the parade in the first place, when she belongs to a party which has actively worked against LHBTQIA rights. We are glad that someone came up with a humorous reaction to her presence in the parade.

The first Pride that we know of in the West, was a riot against oppression which LHBTQIA people experienced in heteronormative society. They understood that rights are not given, they are taken.

The Stonewall riots were a series of spontaneous and violent demonstrations by members of LHBTQIA community against a police raid. This is one of many important events that have led up to the rights we have today as LHBTQIA-people.

Have we forgotten our history? Why is Reitan group and 7/11 main sponsors of Oslo Pride?
We are made into a group which people profit from, why be a homophobe towards a potential customer or vote? Have we forgotten who stood on the other side of the barricades?

The police are those who deport refugees who are fleeing because of their gender and sexual orientation. Why do they get an price honoring solidarity from Oslo Pride, why do they get to walk in front of the Parade with a homophobic politician? How are the police in solidarity, and with whom?

FRI (the national organisation for gender and sexual diversity) infamously accused Skeiv Verden (Queer World) to be responsible for the cake-throwing, that is both racist and unacceptable. It is not only people with migrant backgrounds who have a bone to pick with the Progress Party.

Have we forgotten who our allies are? Politicians, especially right-wing and police have never been our allies, why should we trust them now?

They are the ones that went in front in the Parade, what do they have to be proud of? Who have they ever come out of the closet to? Which relevant challenges have they faced? Have they ever lifted a finger LHBTQIA rights at all?  Is Oslo Pride an election campaign for politicians who want to gain votes? Is Oslo Pride reduced to a ladder for spineless career climbers?

We are proud to see that there are still people who do not stay silent, but act and says it like Charlie Chaplin: No to this hypocrisy. People who remember our history, and recognize those who actively work against our struggle.

Solidarity with the cake-thrower!

Best regards, Oslo Queer
